The Maungaraki Community Association is your voice. The MCA Committee meets in the supper room of the Community Centre (135 Dowse Drive), 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month. All residents are welcome at any meeting
The Maungaraki Community Association (Inc.) was born, in 1985, out of the union of two previous residents associations in Maungaraki. The Maungaraki Residents Association (Inc.) and The Maungaraki Community Centre Association (Inc.). The Maungaraki Residents Association, formerly the Maungaraki Residents and Ratepayers Association (Inc.) had been in existence since the early sixties and had long been associated with the publication of the Views, starting with manual production on a borrowed Gestetener machine, ( Only oldies will remember them from their schooldays). Another early success story was the institution of a public bus service so that commuters no longer had to ring wives from the Percy's Reserve phone box. The Maungaraki Community Centre Association was incorporated in 1972 with an aim of establishing a joint facility between the Maungaraki School and the local community. The Community Centre was finally opened in 1983. The Maungaraki Community Association continues to support the local community, manage the Community Centre and publish the Views |
