Maungaraki turned it on for a great day at the Grooves. Thanks are due to the tireless organisers - Jeanette Murphy-Stewart of Wattle Grove and Kathryn Fitzpatrick of Dowse Drive.
New ideas, new logo, new theme and improved layout gave the Grooves a fantastic boost, not to mention the amazing weather. Maungaraki School, Maungaraki Baptist Church and the Scouts/Guides/Cubs/Brownies/Keas got behind it 100%, providing lots of activities, things to buy and delicious food. The shops also supported the event wholeheartedly - their sponsorship (secured by Jeanette) meant families had tonnes of free entertainment, including the petting farm, double decker bus rides, arty balloon creations by Buttons the Clown and the Pink Lady stiltwalker. And of course the soundstage was brilliant - Drew Neemia was a star in every sense, the Off-Beats showed Maungaraki CAN dance, and The O'Connors were a treat to the ears. Well done Maungaraki!! |
